Count Basie Theatre Board of Trustees Officers Announces Newly Elected Officers

The Count Basie Theatre is pleased to announce its newly elected Board of Trustees Officers. Once a year the Board of Trustees holds what is defined as the “Annual Meeting”, the meeting at which officers for the coming year are elected and Trustees whose terms have expired are re-appointed.

The Count Basie Theatre welcomes Brian J. Leddin as the new Chairman of the Board. Mr. Leddin is a partner at McCarter & English law firm in Newark. He has been a board member at the Count Basie Theatre since 2000 and Secretary since 2001. Leddin replaces Richard Struse who served as Chairman for the last four years.

Struse joined the board in 1999 and became Chairman in 2001. During his successful term, he saw the growth of the annual budget jump from about $1.4 million to almost $4 million dollars. Audience attendance increased tremendously, the number of shows increased, the “Take Your Seat” campaign was launched, the annual golf outing was established and the Spring Gala was created as a major fundraising endeavor. Although he has retired as Chairman, Struse will remain on the board.

Bill Marraccini, Treasurer of the board since 2000, will also assume the role of Vice Chairman in addition to remaining Treasurer. Bill replaces Rusty Young who became Vice Chairman in 2005. Judy Marrus who joined the board in 2004, will replace Brian Leddin as Secretary, and Ray Moser who joined the board in 2004, will become Assistant Secretary.
