Rumson, New JerseyOne of New Jersey’s loveliest and oldest communities, Rumson occupies a leafy peninsula bounded by the Navesink and Shrewsbury Rivers. Much of its five-plus square miles is still rolling 30-acre estate country echoing the days of landed gentry in earlier centuries. Many Rumson properties have been in the same families for generations. The borough offers smaller properties, from converted turn-of-the-century bungalows to middle-sized country homes on tree-lined roads on the inland hills to riverfront mansions with private docks and boat houses. Rumson is home to many commuting executives as well as those in the ever-expanding suburban markets here in Monmouth County. The three small business districts in the borough feature a wide variety of restaurants and upscale shops. Fine schools and abundant recreational facilities, Rumson is a popular address for families. The Sea Bright Lawn Tennis and Cricket Club in Rumson is designated a National Historic Landmark. It is said to be the oldest lawn tennis facility in the United States. | |
