Sea Bright, New Jersey

The water views on a sunny day from the Sea Bright to Rumson or the Sea Bright to Highlands bridges leaves no doubt of how Sea Bright received its name.

Sea Bright is a barrier beach flanked by the Shrewsbury River on the inland side and the wide Atlantic on the ocean side. It gives visitors the illusion of being on an island, but it is actually a long, very slender peninsula connected to the mainland a few miles south in Long Branch. This former fishing village has retained its seaside character and offers pristine beaches for sun worshippers and today’s surf fishermen. Deep sea boats go out from local marinas. The sun in Sea Bright is a different color from the sun on the mainland. When you are in Sea Bright you know you are in a seaside resort.

The late 90s beach replenishment has been a boon for local businesses that depend on the “summer people” for much of their revenue. Ocean Avenue boasts eclectic shops and restaurants, interspersed with lively night spots for after hours entertainment. Ocean Avenue booms in season. After Labor Day the almost two thousand year-rounders settle in for the quiet season until next Memorial Day.
